International Women's Day and Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

This March, we celebrate two powerful moments: International Women's Day and Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and, at Cancer Patients Europe (CPE), they are deeply connected.

In my country, Ireland, Research shows that 4 in 5 women cannot confidently recognise the symptoms of ovarian cancer, and 1 in 3 believe cervical screening checks for all gynaecological cancers. Awareness saves lives and, right now, too many women across Europe are still diagnosed too late.

This year's #GiveToGain theme reminds us that gender equality is built through action. In cancer care, that action starts with awareness. Early detection, timely treatment, and tailored support are not privileges, they are rights.

Today, and every day, we reaffirm our commitment to making every woman's voice heard.
